Olympique Lyonnais anticipate a move to find a midfielder. Mads Bidstrup, a Salzburg player, is coveted by Paulo Fonseca. The 25-year-old Dane has extended his contract in Austria until June 2029. He has started 34 of the 36 matches he has played and is an undisputed starter. His versatility in the heart of the midfield allows him to play either in a defensive profile within a two-unit midfield or as a sentinel. Fonseca has made Corentin Tolisso and Tyler Morton two of his untouchable midfielders. He wants to add to Noah Nartey, who has a more attacking profile, a tactically complementary, disciplined, and willing teammate. Bidstrup is a logical choice. Massive and powerful, the 1.75m Dane is hyperactive in the recovery domain. His proximity to the opponent facilitates the pressing or permanent counter-pressing. In the transition phases, he tends to relaunch in a touch, often vertically. In his area, he has a large volume of runs and consistency that makes him precious for winning duels, dictating the tempo of a match, securing his defense, and offering availability to his teammates. Formed in Copenhagen and then in Leipzig (2018), he arrived in Salzburg in July 2023, after an experience in Brentford (ANG, 2020-2022) where he lived a historic rise in the Premier League (after 74 years), then in FC Nordsjaelland (DAN, 2022-2023). He matured in Austria. To the point of becoming the captain of Salzburg on February 2, 2025, after the arrival of coach Thomas Letsch. After the recruitment of winger Kaïl Boudache (19 years old, 5-year contract), this would be the second Rhodanian recruit, visibly seduced by this Lyonnais opportunity if one believes the General Manager of Salzburg, Marcus Mann, cited by the Salzburger Nachrichten.
